Identifying your childhood strategy is an exciting starting point in your personal development journey. It identifies a key aspect of your personality that was formed early in life, principally developed by a child to ensure he or she receives both love and attention from their parents.

It is incredibly effective during childhood. Where we get into trouble is when we keep the same strategy into our adult years, and something that worked as a kid is no longer effective as an adult, causing tension in your relationships. In personal development and executive life coaching, we explore these strategies and then develop a plan to update them to reflect the adult you are today, based on your present values and qualities.

The benefit of doing this work is improved self-knowledge and self-awareness, more harmonious relationships, and a lasting sense of inner peace.

Next week we'll have an article devoted to decoding these strategies with examples.

Take the quiz to begin exploring yours. What was your strategy when you were a kid?
